Celebration of Life Ceremonies

Joyful and uplifting celebration of life ceremonies personalised to reflect your loved ones life

A celebration of life ceremony’s a wonderful way to remember someone you love. You can choose the day, time and venue to reflect their personality, and story, incorporating the people they loved.

Whether you are planning after a direct cremation, looking for an alternative to a traditional funeral, or simply want a ceremony in a place that feels meaningful, I can help you shape the words, music, tributes and details into a ceremony that feels right for you.

Over the past twelve years working as a funeral celebrant, I’ve seen demand for celebration of life ceremonies grow significantly, especially since the introduction of direct cremations. While direct cremation can be the right choice for many, it can also leave people feeling bereft of the opportunity to say farewell in a personal, shared and meaningful way.

What is a celebration of life ceremony?

With a celebration of life ceremony, you choose where you’d like the ceremony to be held; at home, a village hall, hotel – anywhere that’s meaningful to you and your loved one. You also have the freedom to choose the day and time, adding meaningful touches to the ceremony, perhaps combined with a meal or afternoon tea at the same location, making things easier for guests travelling from further afield - there really is no limit, other than your imagination.

Ideas that tell your loved one's story

Every detail can reflect your loved one's life. For Charles, an intrepid explorer who loved mountaineering and Black Forest gateau, the ceremony included maps, photographs, a memory book and his hiking boots as a collection vessel for donations. And of course gateau naturally featured too!

And all created through relaxed, informal conversation, over a pot of tea (or two!). Families are frequently surprised by how much detail I capture — often subtle yet meaningful detail which makes all the difference to their loved one’s ceremony.

How I'll support you

Together, we’ll shape a ceremony that feels personal, thoughtful and true to your loved one. I’ll guide you through the structure and content, advise on readings, music, tributes and practical details, and be there on the day in good time, with no other commitment than coordinating and delivering your loved one’s ceremony.

I’ll help you balance joy and humour with sensitivity, even in tragic and unforeseen circumstances.

Together, we’ll rediscover joyful moments shared, so your loved one is remembered for the life they lived.
